It’s not just Johnson & Johnson which has come up with a single dose vaccine for Covid-19, Pakistan has recently received a new batch of one-shot vaccine from China which is 65% effective.

CanSino Biologics first got their approval for Convidecia Vaccine in Hungry, followed by Mexico, China and now Pakistan.

The idea behind CanSinoBio’s One-Shot vaccine is to shorten the vaccination cycle and effectively vaccinate mass population in a short period of time.

The trial shows 90.07% effective result of CanSino in preventing severe COVID-19 disease 28 days post-vaccination, and 95.47% in preventing severe COVID-19 disease 14 days post-vaccination.

The Phase III clinical trial results announced by the Pakistani authority showed an efficacy rate of 100% against severe COVID-19 disease and 74.8% at preventing all symptomatic COVID-19 disease in Pakistan.

How does it work?

CanSino vaccine works on the similar technology as J&J is using for its one-shot vaccine; it is known as viral vector vaccine technology. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Viral vector vaccines use a modified version of a different virus (the vector) to deliver important instructions to our cells. The benefit of viral vector vaccines, like all vaccines, is those vaccinated gain protection without ever having to risk the serious consequences of getting sick with COVID-19.

Going into the details, we learn that this smart medical technology tricks the body into believing that it has been harmed by Covid-19 virus and triggers the body to produce anti-bodies to fight off what it thinks is an infection. The ‘Vector’ which is a harmless virus first enters a cell in the body and produces a harmless piece of virus which causes Covid-19 (But it wouldn’t); the cell only displays it to our immune system which recognizes it as a threat and activates our immunity cells.

The body then starts producing anti-bodies in response to an anomaly it witnessed. The end result teaches the body to now be prepared to fight off any similar kind of infection it comes across with. The working of this vaccine is entirely safe and easy on the body. Contrary to the belief by anti-vaxxers, it does not affect a person’s DNA in any way. It is highly advised to educate yourself about all the vaccines through World Health Organization.
