Joe Biden’s COVID-19 Task Force Suggests a Nationwide Lockdown

Osterholm suggestion on COVID-19 pandemics

Since the coronavirus pandemic, 10,708,728 cases have occurred in the United States. Of these 6,648,705 COVID-19 patients recovered, yet 247398 coronavirus patients died. The government under Joe Biden is working continuously to achieve their goal, that is to design and implement plans to control pandemics. The number of cases occurring daily of coronavirus infection has been rising since the uplifting of lockdown.

Dr. Michael Osterholm – Advisor To Joe Biden

In addition, he is a professor, an author, and a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the Council of Foreign Relations. Osterholm became a member of Biden’s 12-member COVID-19 advisory board on Monday. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy co-chaired the panel. Besides him, David Kesseler, a former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner, and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith were also co-chairs of the council. Dr. Atul Gawande and Dr. Rick Bright are also important members of the panel.

The president has selected him especially as a member of the coronavirus task force. Dr. Osterholm suggests that the government could close all kinds of offices and markets and implement a nationwide curfew of four to six weeks so the government can control the spread of COVID-19. Besides, he also asserts that the government can help people who lost their wages through some packages for some time.

Lock-down: A Necessity To Fight Against COVID-19

Even though, people are feeling tired while practicing coronavirus precautionary measures, so far, quarantine is the only solution to control the upcoming coronavirus crisis.

Where some claim to be suffering from  coronavirus infection, others are tired of the pandemic fatigue. Not to forget, as winter is approaching, the coronavirus can spread more quickly.

Thus, a lockdown across the country is the need of the hour. It will help stop the transmission cycle of the virus and lower the occurrence of the daily number of cases. Moreover, enabling healthcare professionals to manage the situation effectively until the arrival of the vaccine in the market is the top priority these days.

According to Osterholm, who is an advisor to Joe Biden, vaccines will be available in the first and second quarters of 2021, and the government is making plans to bring back the economy before that. But before the economy, the government is eager to deal with growing health issues associated with COVID-19. If the US survives the dark days of coronavirus, only then will the US be able to achieve a better future.

Package For People

Dr. Michael Osterholm, being an advisor of Joe Biden, suggests that a nationwide-lockdown is currently a necessity to control COVID-19. However, as small companies and business corporations suffer from some economic downfall, the government can help them survive through their financial problems.

According to him, the government can pay for a package to cover all the wages, lost wages for individual workers, and losses to small companies. The government can also pay right away for a package to support medium-sized companies or city, state, or country governments.

With these packages, the government can implement strict and constant quarantines across the United States for 4 to 6 weeks. Also, the lockdown must be as comprehensive as possible so that the daily cases occurrence drop under 10, as achieved by some Asian countries, New Zealand, and Australia.
