Using the extract of Grateloupia elliptica on cells proved to increase the number of dermal papilla cells. These cells play a key role in regulating and increasing hair follicle growth.

Researchers also found Grateloupia elliptica extract to hamper the mechanism of testosterone conversion to dihydrotestosterone via 5α-reductase. This was a significant finding, as increased DHT levels can cause alopecia by hindering the development of new hair follicles.

What is more, seaweed use is also associated with proper scalp hydration, which would cause less fizziness and hair fall. This marine plant is thought to increase the hair mineralization for thicker hair growth.
